DESCRIPTION:Author and Southern Oregon Historical Society archivist Jan Wright will give a talk on Oregon historical figure John Beeson at 5:30 p.m. Thursday\, April 11\, at Southern Oregon University’s Hannon Library\, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd.\, Ashland. \nThe presentation will focus on Beeson’s advocacy for indigenous people\, which politically disqualified him for residency in Territorial Oregon. Wright’s book “Oregon Outcast: John Beeson’s Struggle for Justice for the Indians\, 1853-1859\,” chronicles his story. \nWright has studied local history for more than 20 years. She also serves as Harry & David’s archivist and has served as executive director of the Talent Historical Society. \nA Zoom link for the presentation will also be available on the Friends website at https://hanlib.sou.edu/friends/lectureseries.html. \nMetered parking is available for those visiting campus to attend the event in person in lots 1\, 12\, 29\, 36\, 37\, and 41. \nThose needing disability accommodations can call 541-552-6213.

SUMMARY:Monthly Meeting – Guitar Society of Southern Oregon
DESCRIPTION:The Guitar Society of Southern Oregon meets from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the beautiful tasting room of Paschal Winery in Talent. \nThe gatherings are open to the public\, and all are welcome. They start with a set of music by volunteer performers\, followed by an intermission to socialize and to discuss Society business and upcoming guitar-related events. The evening concludes with a second set of music\, sometimes performed by visiting or local featured artists. \nThe meeting program includes a wide variety of selections\, performed mostly on guitar\, and some vocal by amateurs\, students and professionals. Anyone may announce upcoming events during the intermission as well.
