Please contact the office to receive our monthly emails and the Zoom link for this practice: OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG \nHeld 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday\, Jan. 21\, Feb. 18\, March 24\, and April 21.

SUMMARY:Sunday Service: Seeding Forgiveness
DESCRIPTION:Please join us as speaker Irv Lubliner shares his mother’s story from Holocaust to hope. While few of us have ever endured this kind of suffering\, all of us have experiences and relationships that cause pain\, fear\, anger\, resentment\, and even hatred. How do we reach out with compassion and move on into a life of forgiveness and hope? \nBefore she died in 1974\, Felicia Bornstein Lubliner wrote about her internment in ghettos and concentration camps in Nazi-occupied Poland\, powerful stories published by her son\, Irv Lubliner. He will share excerpts from “Only Hope: A Survivor’s Stories of the Holocaust\,” shedding light on her experiences and indomitable spirit. Participants will learn about the Holocaust through the eyes of a survivor\, as well as how the instructor – the child of two survivors – was impacted by his parents’ experiences. \nIrv Lubliner teaches math\, music\, and literature classes for the Osher Lifelong Learning institute (OLLI) at Southern Oregon University (SOU). An emeritus SOU professor specializing in mathematics education\, he taught for 40 years (all levels\, kindergarten through graduate school)\, led seminars for teachers in 39 states\, and gave over 350 conference presentations\, including several keynote addresses. He has spoken about his mother’s experiences during the Holocaust for numerous schools\, libraries\, civic organizations\, book clubs\, and 83 other OLLI campuses nationwide. \nAttend in person or watch live or recorded on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@roguevalleyunitarianuniver8871

SUMMARY:Winter Blues Cruise! -Main St Protected Bike Path in Medford!
DESCRIPTION:This is a call to bring your family! Bring your friends! Bring your spark! And bring your analog bike\, or eBike! \nCommence the Winter Blues Cruise! It’s that time of year where everything gets dark early\, and it can be a little harder to stay motivated to ride. What better way than to get out with other people\, enjoy the beautiful Rogue Valley and meet up for some great food\, fun\, or both! \nThis week I wanted to take you to the protected on-street bikeway on Main St in Medford! \nWait! Protected on-street bikeway? You read that right! I wanted to showcase an effective on-street bike path that they built on Main Street in Medford that connects from the Bear Creek Greenway and currently ends at Alba Park! \nAnd! We’re doing something different on this ride! (Well\, aside from the bike path showcase!) We’re splitting off and showing multiple businesses our love on the protected bike path! This is intended to display that our cycling culture is beneficial to local commerce and\, perhaps\, convince more people that more infrastructure for cyclists (such as a protected bike path!) can promote said commerce as cyclists can feel safer arriving\, as well as departing! (BTW\, one of Team Rogue Cycles core values is to promote cycling as an alternate transportation mode and get people out of their cars!) I’ll be heading to Mellelo’s Coffee to grab a chai\, but all participants are encouraged to patronize businesses on the way! \nRoute info! We’ll meet at Ashland Electric Bikes at 11:45 a.m\, with some basic traffic and group riding rules at noon. We’ll do some call and response stretches to warm up (a good friend said that we’re not a group unless we do something cringey together!) Then off we ride! \nWe’ll ride a good mix of public streets and protected Greenway. Weather permitting\, there will be views of Grizzly Peak and the mountain ranges surrounding the valley! We’ll end the first half of our ride at Alba Park\, where participants are then encouraged to visit all of the local businesses! We’ll give you an hour to offer commerce\, and then we’ll meet up back at Alba Park! After that\, it’s back to Ashland Electric Bikes! The ride is about 32.7 miles w/ 1\,050ft of elevation gain! \nThis is an out and back loop! All who ride with us are encouraged to ride as a group\, however you are welcome to ride ahead\, behind\, join on the route\, or meet us there! \n***Important!\nBring money for food and beverage! And remember your bike lock/helmet! \nNote: This is a not an Ashland Electric Bikes event. The store owner has agreed to have the shop open\, on non-business days\, before and after our rides to allow folks a place to gather outside of the cold\, use the facilities and grab any last minute items they might have forgot. There will be a waiver that we ask everyone to sign making sure they acknowledge this point. \nThere is no Support And Gear (SAG) wagon! Please arrive with your protective gear\, as well as a tube(s)/pump/tools for the ride in case the ride goes awry! Ashland Electric Bikes (AEB) will have gear and tools available for purchase at the start\, as well as the end of the ride. \nAlso! \nWe ride rain\, or shine! This is the Winter Blues Cruise! Step away from your domicile and become a bit feral! Here’s looking forward to seeing you there!! \nFeel free to send me your questions/ comments! \nFor route info w/ turn by turn directions\, download the RidewithGPS app and select the link below! \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/45825194

SUMMARY:Forest Defender Training Series: Letter to the Editor Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy snacks and a beverage at Clyde’s Corner and learn how to write effective letters to the editor. \nThe Forest Service is currently in the process of updating the Northwest Forest Plan (NWFP) for the first time in 30 years\, and we need to advocate for strong protections for our old-growth forests. \nWe will walk you through the process of formatting and submitting your letter and provide templates. With your help\, we can keep the drumbeat up on the importance of updating the Northwest Forest Plan! \nit’s important that they hear from YOU. To learn more about the NWFP read KS Wild’s blog \nFood and drink available to purchase at Clyde’s Corner. \nSign up for more details about location and what to bring. \nIf you need help filling out an event form or other accommodations please call Allee Gustafson\, our Events and Volunteer Manager at 541-488-5789\, extension 1014.
