SUMMARY:Lama Sundays – Calm Abiding Meditation
DESCRIPTION:This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice\, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support\, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do\, we release them and maintain our connection to the support. \n“From this practice\, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness\, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed\, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity\, freedom in the face of circumstances\, and ultimately Buddhahood.” From Meditation for Beginners\, by Bokar Rinpoche \nJoin in-person or via Zoom (hybrid). Please contact the office to receive our monthly emails and the Zoom link for this practice: OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG \nHeld 9 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday\, Feb. 4\, March 10\, and April 7.

Can we celebrate and look forward to difference? Can we enjoy the gifts of learning from each other? \n“I trust all joy.” ― Theodore Roethke \nAttend in person or watch live or recorded on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@roguevalleyunitarianuniver8871

SUMMARY:Exploring Cheese Pairings and the Science of Flavor
DESCRIPTION:Do you ever wonder what makes certain flavors or textures go so well together? Maybe you just need some inspiration for your next cheese platter? \nIn this cheese pairing class\, participants will be invited to mix and match an assortment of cheeses and artisanal foods\, chosen to highlight some of the pairing principles used by industry professionals. We will then discuss some of the scientific research in the field of gastronomy that corresponds to these pairing principles. \nAs a former Cheese Master\, Cody Reese spent 8 years working in specialty cheese shops packaging\, sampling\, and peddling a selection of over 150 different artisan cheeses from around the world. During that time\, Cody delivered a variety of tasting\, pairing\, and cooking demos to help share the wonders of cheese with his customers. All cheeses provided will include dairy. Some may include animal rennet\, and most will be produced from Cow’s milk. Pairing items may include nuts or meat. \nFree of charge. Registration required. Best for ages 18+
