SUMMARY:What's at Stake
DESCRIPTION:Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art (SMA) reopens at 5 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 11\, 2024\, with a new exhibition\, “What’s at Stake.” \nCurated by Catharine Clark\, owner and founding director of Catharine Clark Gallery in San Francisco\, this exhibition will feature artists Zeina Barakeh\, Al Farrow\, and Masami Teraoka. This compelling exhibition explores the urgent issues of our time\, delving into the mechanisms of war and colonialism while interrogating the unpredictability and legitimacy of armed conflict. It will be on view through March 23\, 2024. \n“What’s at Stake” sheds light on the devastating impacts of war\, human rights violations\, and environmental collapse\, compelling viewers to pause and reflect on our collective responsibility to one another. The exhibition raises essential questions about the consequences when violence goes unchecked and challenges us to consider what is truly at stake in a world grappling with these pressing issues. \nSMA Executive Director Scott Malbaurn shared\, “During a recent trip to San Francisco with museum members\, we visited solo exhibitions at Catharine Clark Gallery featuring Masami Teraoka\, Al Farrow\, and Zeina Barakeh. Recognizing the common theme of exploring the impact of war\, especially for artists raised in wartime milieus like Teraoka and Barakeh alongside the sculpture of Al Farrow\, which are assembled with war time munitions\, we decided to present these shows collectively as “What’s at Stake.” This group exhibition becomes a poignant question and statement\, resonating with contemporary violent events that seem to be happening all of the time globally.” \nAn opening reception will take place 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 11. Curator Catharine Clark and select artists will be in attendance. The opening reception is free and open to the public; complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. The Museum will be closed on Saturday\, Jan. 13 for a private event. \nNew Masterworks on Loan and Highlights from the Permanent Collection will also be on view in the Entry Gallery. Museum hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is always free\, but a $5 donation is suggested. \nWhat:\nSchneider Museum of Art presents: “What’s at Stake \nFree\, and open to the public. SUMMARY:Soul Companion: Further Explorations on the Other Side of the Veil by Judy Hilyard
DESCRIPTION:Judy’s book\, “Soul Companion: A Memoir” is the true adventures of Judy Hilyard as she travels to the Afterlife as an Anam Aira\, a soul companion for those who have died or are in the final stages of dying. Judy was awakened to this work just as she was finishing a 47-year career as a left-brain-focused intensive care nurse. \nIn her second presentation at RVML\, Judy will continue with more enlightening and fascinating experiences from the other side of the Veil; experiences that will give you hope and wonder about what is possible in connecting with loved ones who have passed. \nJudy will share what she has experienced and learned as she cares for souls on both sides. It is joyful work that is love-affirming for all – it relieves the fear of death for those still here and is helpful to anyone worried about loved ones who have crossed over\, or those who just want connection with dear ones who have died. \nIt offers comfort to those recovering from constrictive religious beliefs. And it’s a fascinating first-person account of out-of-body experiences\, death and dying\, and the Afterlife.\nAnam Aira work translates from the Celtic as the work of “one who cares for the soul.” Anam Airas are people who have been trained in the ancient tradition of compassionately escorting those who have a great fear of death through the transition process. \nThe tradition of Anam Cara\, Celtic for “soul friend\,” dates back more than 1500 years. \nAn Anam Cara works by offering compassionate companionship and guidance to everyone involved as a person prepares physically\, emotionally\, mentally and spiritually for the transition beyond this life and body. \nAnam Cara’s assist people who are conscious and can communicate to identify and complete the unfinished business of their lives. They help clients transform long-standing pain connected to issues of forgiveness\, meaning\, hope and relationships. \nTo prepare herself for Anam Cara work\, she shifted her focus from critical care of the body and mind to care of the soul. Judy completed a two-year Sacred Art of Living and Dying program\, followed by a two-year Anam Cara apprenticeship\, through the Sacred Art of Living Center\, in Bend\, Oregon. \nJudy has also completed three residential programs at the Monroe Institute in Faber\, Virginia. These programs prepared her to access expanded levels of awareness and consciousness required to communicate without words. \n“We are eternal souls who live forever\, and therefore healing of emotional or spiritual wounds can be facilitated\, even if one or more of the people in the wounding are no longer physically alive. Healing\, Joy\, and Peace are always assured.” \nJudy Hilyard\, RN\, MN\, is a retired ICU Nurse with 47 years’ experience and two master’s degrees\, all very sound credentials in Western medicine but not needed for the Afterlife work she now does. At the end of Judy’s career\, she learned to be an Anam Cara\, a soul friend\, offering extraordinary counseling to provide a peaceful death for others. \nThat led her to the ancient role of Anam Aira\, one who crosses the Veil\, not generally practiced today. Judy set out to learn how to cross the Veil between physical life and death to assist souls in their transition. Judy has been doing Anam Aira work for several years\, helping hundreds of people—those about to pass over to the Other Side\, those already There\, and those still here in physical form.
