DESCRIPTION:KS Wild and Rogue Riverkeeper are hosting a screening of two environmental films in a new Fall Film Series\, to inspire activism through film. \nThe agencies will screen “Sisters In Arms at 6:30 p.m. Thursday\, Nov. 16\, at the Southern Oregon University Science Building\, 1250 Ashland St.\, Ashland. This 70-minute film that depicts what it looks like to be a young environmental advocate today. \nWith an introduction by the creator\, Henri De Gerlanche\, and KS Wild is also proud to host a very special virtual Q&A afterwards with Julia Butterfly Hill. This inspiring forest activist spent 738 days on top of a majestic sequoia in Northern California to save a 1\,000-year-old forest from being clearcut. \nTickets cost $20 but are free for SOU students and faculty with ID. Space is limited\, reserve your tickets today! \nDoors Open at 6 p.m. The film starts at 6:30 p.m.\, followed by a 7:45 p.m. raffle drawing\, and the virtual Q&A held from 8 to 9 p.m. \nAbout the film: “Sisters in Arms” follows Anuna and Adelaide (Belgium)\, Luisa (Germany)\, Lena (France)\, Leah (Uganda)\, and Artemisia (Brazil)\, telling their stories of becoming influential and committed leaders in their communities and countries for environmental justice and protection. Their struggles are presented alongside those of our special guest\, Julia Butterfly Hill. The film follows the journey of all these young women\, each in their own way\, but all driven by a unique energy\, these “sisters in arms.” \nWe hope you join to find inspiration and to ask Julia Butterfly Hill your questions after watching the film.

DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio\, learn how to make a Commedia dell’arte mask. \nThese masks depict the different characters of Commedia dell’arte\, a comedic theatre style that originated in Italy in the 1530s and was popular across Europe during the Renaissance. We’ll discuss the roles of each character and how they were depicted through the masks. Supplies will be provided for participants to make their very own Commedia mask to take home.
