DESCRIPTION:A celebration of National Public Lands Day will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday\, Sept. 23\, at the Vesper Meadow Restoration Preserve and some sites in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. \nWe will meet at Rite Aid in Ashland at 9 a.m. and carpool up to the event site. \nThe day kicks off with multiple land stewardship opportunities\, including native seed collection\, fence removal\, and creek habitat restoration\, held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Vesper Meadow Restoration Preserve and adjacent U.S. Bureau of Land Management sites. An afternoon celebration with a barbecue\, live music\, and raffle prizes will follow from 2 to 4 p.m. \nThe free event is limited to 120 participants and requires registration. Visit www.vespermeadow.org to register as a volunteer. \nThe event will be put on by the Vesper Meadow Education Program\, Friends of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument\, Project Beaver\, and Medford’s Public Lands store.

If you wish\, bring a fruit\, a leaf\, a dried stem — any sign of the changing season. Wear a bit of orange color (optional). You will be invited to share an aphorism or very brief story that tells your Wisdom. You can actively participate or just be an observer. We will be on our feet outdoors (sideyard) unless weather chases us indoors (under the balcony).
