SUMMARY:The Hidden Enneagram: Exploring the Mysteries of the Symbol by Jennifer Joss\, Ph.D.
DESCRIPTION:Most people know the Enneagram as a personality typing system. But there is a great deal more hidden in the Symbol itself. \nJust as King Arthur’s Knights set out on their search for the Holy Grail (a symbol of the moral and spiritual evolution of the soul) at the place in the forest that was “darkest” for each of them\, the Enneagram of Personality helps us find that entry point. \nBut to make our way\, we need a map. And wouldn’t it be best if that map were one that has guided generations of heroes transformed by their efforts to heal the world? G.I. Gurdjieff\, the Turkish-Armenian mystic and teacher\, who introduced the Enneagram to the modern world in the early 1900s\, described it as a representation of universal laws\, related to the creation and evolution of life itself. Something like the fabled philosopher’s stone of Alchemy\, the laws can be used in the process of “building a soul.” This wisdom awaits in the Symbol\, veiled from view… unless and until we develop ourselves enough to understand it. \nWhen we see the Enneagram (and ourselves) as a whole system\, and the points more like parts of an archetypal pattern that exists in\, around\, and through us\, a startlingly clear guide for our individual work starts to emerge. This talk will introduce you to the ancient wisdom handed down in the Enneagram Symbol. Through the triangulation of science\, stories\, and spiritual wisdom\, we will explore whether\, indeed\, these are “universal” laws and how they might advance our efforts to evolve healing and greater unity in ourselves and in the world. \nDr. Jennifer Joss is a psychologist by training\, a coach and consultant by profession\, and a Hermetic philosopher at heart. She has been involved with the evolution of people and systems for 30 years\, in nonprofit and+ for-profit organizations\, across diverse industries. Jennifer integrates psychology and neuroscience\, systems dynamics\, and leadership development\, with the wisdom of spiritual and mythic traditions\, and inner technologies that have guided people for centuries. \nDr. Joss holds a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Stanford’s School of Education and graduated from Harvard with high honors in psychology. As a certified Enneagram and Enneagram in Business professional\, she has used the Enneagram to help people and teams personalize learning and map transformation. Jennifer’s 30-year relationship with the Enneagram Symbol somehow lured her into a deep and life-changing exploration of its meaning which\, although still unfolding\, led to the 2023 book “The Enneagram Symbol: Mapping the Journey of Personal\, Social\, and Spiritual Evolution.” \nFree admission. Located at 1757 Ashland St.\, Ashland. \nPresenter’s Website: https://JumpingCurves.com
