DESCRIPTION:The author behind the just-released “Nun Better: An Amazing Love Story\,” will have a book launch event from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday\, March 24\, at the Paschal Winery\, 1122 Suncrest Road\, Talent\, according to a news release. \nThe book\, released March 19 from Two Sisters Writing & Publishing\, tells the true story of author Joanie Lindenmeyer and Carol Tierheimer. Both had served as nuns but fell in love and were together for 40 years. The couple also spent many years lobbying to get the Catholic church to allow same-sex marriage. \n“I wrote this book to show that love has no boundaries\,” Lindenmeyer said in the news release. “Carol went to heaven on January 30\, 2022\, and before she died\, we vowed to share our story to encourage other LGBTQ people that they can find lifelong love and friendships\, and that a deep\, spiritual union is a holy gift that should be cherished and celebrated.” \nVisit https://www.twosisterswriting.com/bookstore/catholic-nuns-lgbtq-marriage-book for more information on ordering the book.

DESCRIPTION:Ashland Contemporary Theatre in collaboration with Livia Genise Productions presents “Keely and Du” directed by Livia Genise. \nThis runner-up for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize explores the relationship of Keely\, a pregnant rape victim and Du\, a right-to-life zealot who Du is confining. Playwright Jane Martin poses the thorny question\, that despite the human need for connection\, is love really possible\, even a mother’s\, when its origin is involuntary? After all\, whose choice is it anyway? There is some described violence in this staged reading\, so audience discretion is advised. \nFeaturing Alayha McNamara as Keely and Jeannine Grizzard as Du\, with John Lambie\, Dan Olson\, and Cynthia Tank.
